Random note.

I need to FA more/learn to implement FA better.

A bad session...

So I jumped on before work to play a few matches. And leave somewhat miffed at a series of bad play.

I'll edit this post to give some details of the matches later, but for now, the record:

Match 1: vs. Zangief. In this match, I was doing my best to keep Gief off me with S.RH & keeping him spaced. But it was the times that he DID get in that I paid for dearly, including SPD's on my wakeup because I didn't backdash fast enough. Either that, or he can ACTUALLY grab me out of backdash. I have to check. Lose (0-1)
Match 2: vs. Ryu. I got wasted by some stupid mixups, wasn't reacting fast at all, which caused several Hazan Shus to get tagged by SRK because I did them too late. Lose (0-2)
Match 3: vs. Sagat. Here comes HOPPY MCGEE! I am ashamed that I lost this match against this guy just doing J.RH and random Tiger Knees the entire match, like he just discovered this game after playing HDR for months. Lose (0-3)
Match 4: vs. Fei Long. This was like a mix of the Sagat and Ryu matches from previously, he mixed up well, but was also doing HDR Fei stuff that doesn't work in SF4, but because I wasn't expecting it, it halfway worked enough to cause me enough damage to lose. I didn't lose by much, but it was still frustrating. Lose (0-4)
Match 5: vs. Vega. He really didn't do anything a typical Vega should've, literally only one wall dive the entire match, mostly horizontal wall attacks. The one wall dive he did, I believe I caught with target combo in the air, either that or I threw him. No back jumps to evade my links. Just handed me this match. Win (1-4)
Match 6: vs. Vega. Once again, a lack of wall dive mixups really cost him this match. It was a different guy btw. He threw a few, but then just suddenly forgot he had it. He tagged me with some unexpected backflip kicks on my jumpins, but otherwise, it was a straightforward match. Win (2-4)

Player Data not detailed enough.

Just having a winrate in the Player Data section of the Street Fighter 4 menu is not detailed enough for me. If this data is going to be helpful to me, it has to have more information. So I decided to make a spreadsheet out of my match data.

Naturally, I can't back track and regain the data I need. On top of that, some of the data won't even fit in where I need it.

So I made the following guidelines regarding my spreadsheet data:

1) I will only add matches to the spreadsheet if I'm playing Chun. If I added it when I play other characters, non-seriously, the data tells me nothing.
2) If an online match is super laggy, I will not count it.
3) If a player ragequits, I count the match only if I'm about to win. Random disconnects or server errors do not count.
4) I count each character serparately, that way I know which matchups I'm needing work on.

With that done, I designed a spreadsheet with the data I wanted and needed to see, and went to it. So here's some of the details I have since making the sheet:

I have played 225 matches, and am currently winning 41% of the time.

My best matchup is Akuma, which I am winning 71% of the time.

My worst matchup is Balrog, which I am winning 6% of the time.

I am winning half my matches against console characters, with that being dragged down by Gen matches, which would be my second worst matchup. I am winning that matchup 12.5% of the time.

I am winning 40% of my matches against shotos. This stat needs to change.

Against the big two (Sagat, Ryu), I'm winning those matchups 50% of the time and 34% of the time respectively. Considering Ryu is at every tournament, this needs to change.

I am facing a shoto 42% of the time.

I am winning against arcade characters 39% of the time.

As I progress, I will show more of these stats. Unfortunately, right now the sample size of the other characters are too small to give accurate numbers for.

Goals (SF4)

1. Learn to defeat Boxer more than once every 17 matches.
2. Start winning 70+% of my matches.
3. Improve my win rates against shoto characters.
4. Learn to execute dash ultra on demand, and implement it into match play.
5. Stop getting beat by Blanka antics.
6. Actually face a Dan. (LOL)
